In Palm Beach North specifically, the 327-bed Jupiter Medical Center has earned HealthGrade’s “America’s 50 best” Award-winner for three consecutive years and last year scored in the top 10% nationwide for medical excellence in many specialties, as rated by CareChex, a hospital care rating organization. The 199-bed Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center was deemed one of Healthgrades® 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery™ in 2016 and among the top 10% in the nation for Overall Cardiac Services.
These are just two of the region’s respected facilities, along with acclaimed physicians and practices spanning every medical specialty.
County-wide, a number of county hospitals host clinical clerkships from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine, Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathy, and more. The county is home to Palm Beach Atlantic’s Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy as well as nursing schools at Keiser University, Nova Southeastern University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Palm Beach State College.
Palm Beach State College also has programs in radiography, medical transcription, surgical technology, dental assisting, health information management, and many other health specialties.
To build the next generation of healthcare providers, the School District of Palm Beach County offers “Choice” and “In-House” programs at nine elementary schools in biomedical and veterinary technology, health and wellness, and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Five middle schools feature programs with a biomedical, biotech, or biomedical health informatics focus, and 12 middle schools feature a pre-medical sciences program. Six high schools offer programs in biomedical sciences, biotech, or International Baccalaureate medical sciences; and 15 high schools offer medical sciences career programs.
